On October 9, 2011, an auditorium filled with a high-energy crowd, had the chance to witness Kalani Jorgensen's dreams come true as she was crowned Miss South Dakota Teen USA 2012.

Starting at a very young age, Kalani's family was always there supporting her, in gymnastics, dance, bowling leagues, piano recitals, orchestra, band, church and school choir concerts, Girl Scouts, and church youth group activities. They were the ones who told her that you never give up until you have reached your goal. It was their encouragement and Kalani's dedication that led her to the crown after placing First Runner-Up in last year's pageant.

Kalani puts her all into something she wants. She never gives up and quoting Kalani "Not coming back this year wasn't an option. Last year my goal was Top 15, but once it came down to the Top 5, it was in my blood. I knew a year ago that I would be back on that stage this year with the ultimate goal of wearing the crown!" With a little help from others and her own drive, she made it happen.

In her final year of high school, you will find Kalani participating in varsity football cheer, competitive cheer, and varsity boys basketball cheer. She is a member of her school's Concert Choir and Chamber Choir, and is honored to be a member of the South Dakota All State Chorus. Kalani has also been on the high school varsity bowling team since her freshman year. In her spare time, Kalani enjoys collecting rubber ducks and hanging out with her friends. Kalani's current obsession is with Spiderman!

This year, Kalani is very excited to represent South Dakota and is looking forward to being a positive role model for the youth. She realizes the great opportunities that await her and is anxious to fill the next year with hospital and school visitations along with several service projects. Kalani hopes to inspire others to stay focused on their dreams and to remember that you have within you the power to accomplish those dreams!
